Security
Security guards are on duty at the entrances, high traffic areas, on foot patrols, in the parking areas and at the surrounding street entrances. There is an armed reaction team on call to support those on duty.
They have been given extensive training in shopping centre security, customer-care, public relations, verbal and written communications, as well as first-aid, fire procedures and relevant legal procedures such as gathering information for court prosecutions and citizen's arrests.
A highly sophisticated CCTV system is monitored from a centrally located control room. This is the hub of the security operation. It is recording on a 24-hour basis and has radio contact with safety officers, members of the management team and emergency services.
The security staff in the centre not only keeps a look-out for criminal elements, but also assists shoppers and tenants in many other ways.
The centre urges visitors to the centre to assist the security staff by alerting them to suspicious-looking characters and to heed the following tips when shopping:
- Always make sure your vehicle is locked and windows closed
- Be alert to your surroundings especially at night
- Hold onto handbags and valuables at all times
